Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness Session at Aarey Colony Unit 13
On August 28th, 2024, Debabrata Auro Foundation (DAF) organised a Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness Session at Aarey Colony Unit 13. The event, held from 02:30 PM to 04:30 PM, aimed to educate and empower 50 women and girls from the community, focusing on essential aspects of menstrual health and hygiene.The awareness session was conducted by the dedicated team from DAF NGO, who provided comprehensive information on various topics related to menstrual health. The session began with an introduction to menstruation cycles, explaining what they are and how women can accurately calculate their cycles. This was followed by crucial guidance on recognizing key indicators that may require consultation with a gynaecologist, addressing potential health concerns early.The session also tackled common myths and taboos surrounding menstruation, aiming to dispel misinformation and promote a more open, informed dialogue.
Additionally, the importance of hygiene and nutrition during menstruation was emphasised, providing participants with practical tips to maintain their health and well-being.To support the women and girls in the community, DAF NGO concluded the event with the distribution of sanitary napkins to all attendees, ensuring that they have access to necessary menstrual products.Through this session, Debabrata Auro Foundation aimed to empower women and girls by providing them with the knowledge and resources needed for maintaining good menstrual health and hygiene. By fostering awareness and ensuring access to sanitary products, the foundation strives to contribute towards a healthier, more dignified menstruation experience for all. The event was a significant step towards breaking the silence and stigma surrounding menstruation, helping to build a more informed and empowered community.
