Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness and Reusable Cotton Pads Distribution-20/6/23
DAF NGO runs a project on Menstrual Health and Hygiene also Sanitary Napkins distribution every month at Tribal Villages and in BMC Schools. On 20th June DAF NGO organized Menstrual Health Hygiene awareness and Cotton Pads distribution in collaboration with “Your Turn Now Trust”. Mr.Rushabh Turakhia Founder of “Your Turn Now Trust” has donated 79 Reusable Cotton Pads (Sanitary Napkins) to DAF NGO for distribution after the awareness session on Menstruation. Mrs.Hershi Ma’am from Rewind_Rewire organization has given training to Tribal women on how to take care of their health during Menstruation and gave training on how to use Reusable Sanitary Napkins(Cotton Pads). The training was given on how to maintain proper sanitation during periods. Post the awareness session and training we distributed 79 Reusable Napkins to tribal women and girls. After the event, we asked for their feedback and we got to know that many girls and women were not aware of how to maintain hygiene during periods. They used to think they were impure during their periods.In their family their mothers never speak up on this topic only said to hide it and that during menstruation you are not to speak about this they only knew it is something unhygienic and unpure and you should hide it. Even they promised to spread awareness amongst more tribal village women and girls.
