Report on Cancer Awareness Campaign Camp – 11th June 2025
The Cancer Awareness Campaign Camp, organized by the Debabrata Auro Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Preventive Oncology, TATA Memorial Hospital, was held on 11th June 2025 at Aarey Colony. The initiative aimed to educate and empower women with essential knowledge regarding cancer prevention, early detection, and available healthcare resources. The sessions featured expert-led discussions on the nature of cancer, its risk factors, and the most common cancers affecting women—namely cervical, breast, and oral cancers. Participants gained valuable insights into causes, symptoms, and the importance of regular screenings such as Pap smears, mammograms, and oral examinations. Interactive segments encouraged open dialogue, helping to dispel myths and alleviate fears often associated with cancer.
The campaign emphasized the role of lifestyle choices in reducing cancer risk, offering guidance on nutrition, exercise, and the avoidance of harmful habits like tobacco and alcohol use. Attendees were also introduced to various support services provided by the Department of Preventive Oncology, including screening programs, diagnostic tools, and counseling services. By targeting women from underserved local communities, the event successfully fostered increased awareness, encouraged proactive health behavior, and promoted a supportive environment for preventive care. The positive community response highlighted the importance of such outreach initiatives in building lasting connections between public health services and the communities they serve.
