Menstrual Health & Hygiene Awareness Session at AMBPS Municipal Secondary School, Cotton Green, July 13th, 2024

On July 13th, 2024, the Debabrata Auro Foundation (DAF) organised a Menstrual Health & Hygiene Awareness Session at the Municipal Secondary School in Cotton Green, attended by 50 school girls. The session aimed to educate participants about menstrual health and hygiene practices while dispelling myths surrounding menstruation. The session began with an introduction emphasising the importance of menstrual health for overall well-being. Various topics were covered, including menstrual hygiene practices, proper usage of sanitary products, and the significance of cleanliness during menstruation. Key points included explanations of the menstrual cycle and its biological significance, practical tips on maintaining hygiene, guidance on using sanitary pads correctly, and discussions on proper disposal methods to ensure environmental sustainability and hygiene.

The session was highly interactive, with 50 girls actively participating, engaging in discussions, and asking questions. Following the awareness session, sanitary napkins were distributed to all participants. The session increased awareness among the girls about menstrual health and hygiene practices, empowering them to make informed choices. It also dispelled stigma and fostered open dialogue by addressing myths and misconceptions. The participants gained valuable information and resources to better manage their menstrual health and hygiene. The Menstrual Health & Hygiene Awareness Session successfully educated the school girls about menstrual health and hygiene practices, promoting confidence and dignity in managing their menstrual health through accurate information and open discussions.
