Menstrual Health & Hygiene Awareness Session and Sanitary Napkins Distribution at Laxmi Nagar MPS School- February 01, 2024

Introduction:

• Debabrata Auro Foundation organised a Menstrual Health & Hygiene (MHH) awareness session at Laxmi Nagar MPS School on February 1st. 
• The primary objective of the session was to educate young girls about menstruation, dispel myths and taboos surrounding it, and promote proper hygiene practices along with the correct usage and disposal of sanitary napkins.

Session Details:

• The session commenced with an introduction to menstruation and its biological significance. 
• We addressed common myths and taboos associated with menstruation, emphasising the importance of breaking the stigma and fostering a supportive environment for menstrual health. 
• Practical demonstrations were conducted to showcase the correct method of using sanitary napkins and maintaining proper hygiene during menstruation.

• Proper usage and disposal of sanitary napkins. 

Distribution of Sanitary Napkins:

• Following the awareness session, sanitary napkins were distributed to 101 girls present. 
• Each girl received a packet containing essential sanitary napkins and their usage and disposal instructions.

Impact:

• The session helped in educating young girls about menstruation, leading to increased awareness and knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene.
• By addressing myths and taboos, misconceptions surrounding menstruation were dispelled, contributing to a more informed and open-minded approach towards menstrual health.
• The distribution of sanitary napkins ensured that girls had access to essential menstrual hygiene products, promoting their overall well-being and confidence during menstruation.

Conclusion:

• The Menstrual Health & Hygiene (MHH) awareness session conducted by DAF NGO at Laxmi Nagar MPS School was successful in imparting valuable knowledge and promoting healthy menstrual practices among young girls.By addressing myths, providing education, and facilitating access to sanitary products, the session aimed to empower girls to manage their menstrual health with confidence and dignity.
