Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness session at Akanksha Foundation school Shindewadi Dadar East – 1st December 2023
- The Debabrata-Auro Foundation, in its continued efforts to promote awareness and education, organized a Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness Session at Akanksha Foundation school, Shindewadi Dadar East. aimed to Address the Menstrual health needs of Students’ Parents. This initiative sought to provide education, resources, and support to empower them to adopt healthier Menstrual hygiene practices.
- Awareness Session: DAF’s dedicated team of executives conducted informative sessions for Students and Parents. The sessions addressed various aspects of menstrual health, aiming to dispel myths and provide factual information.
- Educational Focus: The sessions covered the significance of menstruation, proper hygiene practices to maintain during menstrual periods, and the importance of self-care.
- Involved Parents: Inclusivity was a key focus and student parents were included in the discussions. The sessions focused on myths and taboos around their periods as well as the importance of parental support.
- Sanitary Napkin Distribution: After the awareness sessions, DAF distributed 110 sanitary napkins to the Women who participated in the program from the donation made by Mr. Sachin Dhamanskar. The objective of this action was to provide practical support to student parents and ensure that they have access to clean menstrual products.
Impact:
- Increased awareness: Participants, Students, and Parents left the session with a better understanding of menstruation, dispelling misconceptions and encouraging open discussion.
- Empowerment: 110 Students’ Parents were provided with sanitary napkins, giving them access to hygienic menstrual products. They were also taught proper hygiene practices.
- Promoting support: Students’ Parents learned how to support their family members and peers during menstruation, promoting a more understanding and empathetic community. This initiative was an important step towards normalizing the conversation about menstrual health and hygiene while providing practical support to students’ Parents. This aligns with DAF’s commitment to community well-being.
