Fungal Infection Check-Up Camp & Free Medicines Distribution at Colaba Slum, 08/08/2024

On August 8, 2024, DAF NGO, in collaboration with ‘The Esthetic Clinics,’ organised a Fungal Infection Health Check-Up Camp at the Shivsena Shakha in Churchgate, Colaba. The event, held from 01:00 PM to 4:00 PM, aimed to raise awareness about fungal infections among the residents of the Colaba slum and provide necessary medical support to those affected. The camp began with an informative session designed to educate the community about fungal infections, focusing on their causes, effects, and preventive measures. The importance of timely and effective treatment was emphasised, highlighting how early intervention can significantly reduce the impact of these infections.Following the awareness session, a specialised check-up camp was conducted by dermatologist specialists from ‘The Esthetic Clinics.’ The doctors carried out thorough examinations of 50 residents from the Colaba slum community, diagnosing fungal infections and prescribing the necessary medications for treatment. This personalised consultation ensured that each patient received appropriate guidance on managing their condition effectively. In addition to the check-ups, the event included the free distribution of prescribed medicines, including creams and tablets, to those diagnosed with fungal infections.

The medical team provided clear instructions on how to use the medications correctly, emphasising the importance of completing the full course for optimal recovery.Throughout the camp, the dermatologists also offered health guidance, focusing on the importance of maintaining proper hygiene to prevent the spread of fungal infections. The session was particularly relevant given the rainy season and hot weather, conditions that often exacerbate the spread of such infections. The impact of the camp extended beyond immediate medical care. By educating the slum residents about hygiene practices and the significance of timely treatment, the event contributed to improving the overall health and well-being of the community. The initiative benefited 50 individuals directly and set the foundation for promoting better health practices within the local population.Overall, the Fungal Infection Health Check-Up Camp successfully addressed a critical health concern in the Colaba slum area, providing much-needed medical support and raising awareness about the importance of hygiene and timely treatment in preventing the spread of fungal infections.
