DAF NGO organised a Menstrual Health & Hygiene awareness session at Indira Nagar Slum Bandra, on 6th February

  • Debabrata Auro Foundation organised a Menstrual Health & Hygiene awareness session at Bandra Indira Nagar Slum on February 6th. 
  • The session aimed to educate women and girls about menstrual health, and hygiene practices, and dispel myths surrounding menstruation. 

 

Session Details:

  • The session began with an introduction to menstrual health and its importance in women’s overall well-being. 
  • Various topics were covered, including menstrual hygiene practices, proper usage of sanitary products, and the importance of maintaining cleanliness during menstruation.

  • The session provided information about the menstrual cycle, its biological significance, and common misconceptions.
  • Practical tips were shared on maintaining proper hygiene during menstruation, including regular changing of sanitary products and proper washing techniques.
  • To educate women and girls on the correct usage of sanitary pads or menstrual cups to prevent leakage and discomfort.
  • Proper disposal methods were discussed to ensure environmental sustainability and hygiene.

 

Distribution : 

  • A total of 80 women and girls participated in the session, actively engaging in discussions and asking questions to clarify doubts.
  • Post the awareness session we distributed 80 sanitary Napkins. 

 

Impact:

  • The session contributed to increased awareness among women and girls about menstrual health and hygiene practices, empowering them to make informed choices regarding their menstrual health.
  • By addressing common myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation, the session helped dispel stigma and foster a more open dialogue about menstrual health.
  • 80 women & girls gained access to valuable information and resources that can help them better manage their menstrual health and hygiene.
