Report – Aarey Colony Advanced Tailoring Program
The Advanced Tailoring Course under the WOW (Women Own Wings) initiative, led by the Debabrata Mitalee Auro Foundation in collaboration with M. Tarun Diamonds, has empowered eight women in Aarey Colony, Goregaon, to elevate their sewing skills beyond basic stitching. Through structured training, the participants have learned to take precise measurements, draft blouse patterns, and construct well-fitted garments with a focus on both technique and design. They have gained hands-on experience in stitching blouses with various sleeve and neckline styles, while also mastering finishing techniques such as hemming, piping, and detailing, all of which are essential for professional-quality tailoring.
This training has not only enhanced the participants’ technical capabilities but also sparked a sense of confidence and purpose. The women have begun to view tailoring as a path to financial independence and self-sufficiency. Their growing precision, creativity, and commitment reflect a deep engagement with the learning process. Moving forward, the program will continue to build on this foundation by introducing more advanced designs, decorative elements, and practical skills to support their journey toward entrepreneurship and long-term empowerment.
