On July 22nd, 2024, the Debabrata Auro Foundation (DAF) organised a Menstrual Health & Hygiene (MHH) Awareness Session at Govandi MPS School. The session aimed to educate women about menstruation, dispel myths and taboos surrounding it, and promote proper hygiene practices, including the correct usage and disposal of sanitary napkins. The session began with an introduction to menstruation and its biological significance, addressing common misconceptions and emphasising the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding menstrual health. Practical demonstrations were provided on the proper use of sanitary napkins and maintaining hygiene during menstruation.

Key topics included understanding menstruation, dispelling myths, and the significance of menstrual hygiene and sanitation. Following the session, sanitary napkins were distributed to 50 students, each receiving a packet with essential sanitary products and instructions for their use and disposal. The session successfully increased awareness and knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene among the students, dispelled misconceptions, and provided essential menstrual hygiene products to support their well-being. The initiative empowered students to manage their menstrual health with confidence and dignity, reflecting DAF’s commitment to promoting healthy menstrual practices and improving overall well-being.
