Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness Session at Chembur Basti Vikas Krida Mandal, 03/12/2023

Objective:

  • The primary objective of the project was to conduct a Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness Session at Vikas Krida Mandal Chembur Basti. 
  • The session aimed to dispel myths, provide factual information about menstrual health, and offer guidance on hygiene practices. Additionally, the project sought to educate women and girls about nutritional tips for maintaining their overall health. 

 

Project Description:

  • Debabrata Auro Foundation organized a Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness Session in collaboration with Vikas Krida Mandal at Chembur. 
  • The session took place on 03/12/2023, from 12 pm to 6 pm, with a focus on addressing common misconceptions surrounding menstrual health and providing essential information on hygiene practices. 

 

Key Components:

  1. Myths and Facts Discussion:- The session included an interactive discussion on prevalent myths and facts related to menstrual health. This aimed to dispel misconceptions and provide accurate information to the participants. 
  1. Nutritional Tips:- To promote holistic well-being, nutritional tips were shared with women and girls attending the session. The focus was on maintaining good health through a balanced diet. 
  1. Awareness on Sanitary Napkins:- Participants were educated about the proper use of sanitary napkins. The session covered topics such as the importance of using sanitary napkins for menstrual hygiene and dispelling any stigma associated with their use. 
  1. Disposal Education:- Information on the proper disposal of sanitary napkins was provided, emphasizing environmental sustainability and hygiene. 

 

Execution:

  • The Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness Session was successfully conducted by the Debabrata Auro Foundation. The collaboration with Vikas Krida Mandal ensured effective outreach to the community in Chembur. The session employed interactive methods, ensuring engagement and understanding among the participants. 

 

Distribution: 

  • Post the awareness session we distributed sanitary napkins to 76 women & girls present in the awareness session. 

 

Impact:

  • A total of 76 women and girls participated in the awareness session, gaining valuable insights into menstrual health and hygiene. 
  • The project successfully contributed to breaking taboos, fostering a positive attitude towards menstrual health, and empowering women and girls with knowledge for better self-care. 

 

Conclusion:

  • The Menstrual Health and Hygiene Awareness Session organized by Debabrata Auro Foundation at Chembur Basti Vikas Krida Mandal proved to be a successful initiative in promoting awareness and dispelling myths surrounding menstrual health. 
  • The collaborative effort with the community and the impactful information shared during the session contributed to the overall success of the project.
